Deja's Story
How COD helped her get there?
After serving in the military for four years, Deja began pursuing a new career by enrolling at College of the Desert. By choosing to become a Roadrunner, many new and exciting opportunities became available to her. She dove into campus life through programs and clubs such as the Pride Center, One Future, and others. She also participated in College Corps and earned money for college while giving back to the community.
While Deja worked towards her associates degree in sport medicine, services such as counseling and Timely Care worked alongside her to help her grow through mental health difficulties. She will transfer to a four-year university with new confidence, a new sense of purpose, and the skills needed to continue pursuing her new career. She will also be the first person in her family to attend and graduate college.
